REIST GRYM
Name: Reist Grym
Age: 26
Birth Season: Summer
Rank: Knight
Occupation: Knight
Kingdom: Rodale (Mont Daegal)
Body description: Standing at 5'8", Reist isn't the tallest, but what he lacks in height he makes up for in character. He maintains enough muscle to be a fierce opponent in arm wrestling matches—which he regularly partakes in—but prefers to stay lean as his true strengths are his agility and speed. He maintains his beard more than his actual hair, which falls just above his shoulders in dark waves that are usually a little greasy. His piercing blue eyes and thick brows would intimidate many if it wasn't for the devilish grin he always seems to be wearing.
Personality: Reist is all bark—and all bite, too. He's cocky and talks a big game, and usually matches it. He has an "an eye for an eye" mentality and will hold a grudge over anything. He enjoys drinking, gambling, arm wrestling, and flirting with women, but doesn't let extracurriculars distract him from his duty as a Knight. As the younger brother of the Marshal of Mont Daegal, Reist is a loyal and hardened warrior that takes his job seriously, though that doesn't prevent him from causing trouble. He would would never shy away from a fight, and often invokes them by way of trash-talking until things get physical. For Reist, though, fights like these are all in good fun, though the other party may not always feel the same. It is this immaturity that has prevented Reist from rising any further in the ranks of the Rodale military—that, and his tendency to disobey orders when it comes to retreating or standing down.
Reist is not very fond of Grimoires; he thinks wielders rely on them too much and neglect what he thinks is much more reliable: physical strength and combat ability. That being said, he still respects those who use Grimoires while maintaining their other skills, such as his brother Bastian and their father before them.
Reist is a massive flirt and one might say a womanizer—he enjoys making women flush and swoon and occasionally spends the night with one after an evening at a pub. The importance of procreation to strengthen the state was instilled into him at an early age, but he isn't ready to settle down just yet. He'll continue to have his fun until a pretty woman reels him in and straightens him out, if she can handle it.
Magic: N/A
Combat experience: Aside from his nieces and nephews, who will likely follow in their family's footsteps, Reist is the latest in a long line of Rodaler soldiers. He has trained alongside his family for his whole life, and is skilled in both hand-to-hand combat as well as the use of weaponry. He prefers to wield a halberd and appreciates its versatility. Reist views helmets as a blight to his combat ability and often fights without them, despite the many dangers that arise from this decision.
Family:
Father: Rywell Grym (deceased)
Mother: Violet Grym (60s)
Brothers: Bastian Grym, older brother (open), older brother (open)
Sister: younger sister (open)
Sister-in-Law: Kate (deceased)
Nephews: Bellamy, Cezar, Delaney
Nieces: Aleera (open), Elena
History: Reist's biggest regret in life is never having met his father, who died when he was merely two years of age. It's hard to say if it was the lack of a father figure that made him such a problem child, or maybe it was just because he was the youngest of five children—either way, he put his poor mother through hell. As a child, he often hid from his mother so well that she'd start fretting about him going missing. To avoid punishment for scaring his dear mother, he'd simply hide again.
As the son of a renowned soldier, he attended school, but despised reading and writing and got through by the skin of his teeth; he was lucky that Rodale's focus was on military prowess rather than literacy.
At age 15, Reist joined a troop and became an official soldier of Mount Daegal. His strength and agility allowed him to rise quickly from his squire status, and he remained a bachelor knight for a few years before officially becoming a Knight of Rodale.
Reist was 16 when his brother Bastian succeeded in challenging the Marshal of Mont Daegal, and was perhaps the rowdiest onlooker in the crowd. He cheered for his brother until his voice was gone, and remains proud to be kin to such a powerful and well-respected warrior.
